Rent tax credit calculator

How much rent tax credit can I claim?

The credit is 20% of the rent you paid in the year, up to €1,000 for a single person or €2,000 for a jointly assessed couple for 2024 to 2026, with €1,150 and €2,300 announced for 2027. Enter the year and the rent, answer three conditions, and the tool gives the credit and how to claim it, including the four-year look-back.

Revenue's page sets every condition; this tool applies the ones it asks. The credit cannot exceed the income tax you paid in the year, which the tool does not know.

Information, not advice. This tool applies the published rules to the dates and figures you enter. It does not say whether a notice is valid, whether a deduction is lawful or what the RTB will decide: those turn on facts and evidence the RTB weighs. Everything runs in your browser and nothing you type is sent to this site. Last checked 2026-10-27.
