Rent increase checker

Can my rent go up by this much?

Since 1 March 2026 a rent may be reviewed once in 12 months and raised by no more than 2% or the annual change in the Consumer Price Index, whichever is lower. Enter your rent, when it was last set and what is proposed. The checker shows the most it can be, whether the review is too soon or the notice too short, and what to do.

What you pay now, and what is proposed

The RTB's own calculator is the official figure for a review. This checker does not know the market rent for your area, which is the other ceiling, and it does not decide whether a notice is valid.

Information, not advice. This tool applies the published rules to the dates and figures you enter. It does not say whether a notice is valid, whether a deduction is lawful or what the RTB will decide: those turn on facts and evidence the RTB weighs. Everything runs in your browser and nothing you type is sent to this site. Last checked 2026-10-27. TenantWise is an independent site, not connected with the Residential Tenancies Board, Revenue, the Department of Housing, any local authority, Threshold or any landlord body. It is not a solicitor, a letting agent, a landlord, a deposit scheme or an advice service. It covers the Republic of Ireland only. Before you act, ring Threshold, which is free, or talk to a solicitor.
